Surrounded by majestic trees but with the bays and inlets close by, you’ll have no trouble finding ways to entertain yourself when you stay in a Private Properties home. Take a local walk, look out to the Southern Ocean, or jump in the car and drive to stunning spots such as Elephant Rocks and Greens Pool.
The little town of Walpole in the Great Southern has a wonderful history but remains one of the few secrets on the WA tourism trail. Tingle trees, The Valley of the Giants, the Walpole/Nornalup Inlet and the Frankland River are just some of the unique holiday attractions nearby.
We think it’s very special here! Chirriger on Inlet makes it possible for families and groups to enjoy the area in perfect comfort in summer or winter. This spacious two-storey home is designed to capture the views with the open plan kitchen, dining and living area upstairs. From here, step out onto wonderful decks to enjoy views of the surrounding forest and inlet.
The master bedroom and ensuite are also on this upper level and enjoy the views. Three other bedrooms are downstairs, plus an additional TV room that creates extra space for children or couples to enjoy television or games. Or just a spot to curl up with a book away from everyone else.
Reverse cycle air-conditioning is available all year, however winter guests are sure to prefer the cosy wood fire upstairs in the evenings. After a day’s paddling on the river or walking the forest, what could be better than local wine, home-cooked local produce and the wood fire?
The centre of town has a supermarket plus a handful of other stores for essential provisions. Fuel-up and take off for the day, being sure to explore the famous Tree Top Walk that’s only a 15-minute drive away.
The visitor centre in town is very cute and its volunteers are happy to help with tips for exploring. We particularly recommend the EcoCruise though the marine park and Nuyts Wilderness as a blissful way to learn about the area and its beginnings. But if you want to walk trails, they begin right at your front door!

With the Wilson Inlet in its backyard, Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks down the way, and some of the best cool climate wineries just around the corner, Emerald Cove is fast becoming one of our favourite Denmark holiday homes.
Its convenient location isn’t its only drawcard, though. Cleverly positioned on a tree-fenced parcel of land that looks out over the calm waters of the Inlet, Emerald Cove has plenty to offer those who love peace, quiet and a touch of country charm.
An outdoor deck lines the entire inlet side of the home, the perfect vantage point for soaking in river and tree views and/or keeping a watchful eye on the kids as they play on the property’s long stretch of lawn. A beautiful Wisteria tree and floor-to-ceiling glass panelling frame the tranquil inlet from inside the home’s open-plan living room, a cosy space made up of two sitting areas, a fireplace, dining room and kitchen, while the beautiful scenery can also be glimpsed from the bedrooms and the ensuite too.
There’s a small pond on the property, situated between the trees and the Inlet, home to ducks and rare species of frog. You may be lucky enough to hear the distinctive call of the Western Banjo otherwise known as the Pobblebonk.
With all the creature comforts you look for in a home-away-from-home, a top-notch location close to the action plus one incredible view, Emerald Cove is certainly a family holiday spot worthy of calling your own.
Roo Corner isn’t for the fast-paced, but the ones who relish a peaceful break. The ones who like to meander down long, winding country roads, no matter how long it takes them to find their rural holiday home. The ones who cherish long chats over warm cuppas, and slow mornings spent with each other.
This four-bedroom, two-bathroom holiday home is perfect for those who love watching the mist between the trees dissipate, over breakfast in a sun-filled, open-plan living space. For those who want to explore beautiful places not far from homebase, including the tranquil Greens Pool or Denmark’s many award-winning wineries (most of which are just a short drive away). And for those who are seeking a place to stay that has all the creature comforts – like a gourmet kitchen, cosy living room and spacious bedrooms – is close to the action, but far from any holiday distractions.
Roo Corner isn’t about city living, but embracing something you might be missing. So if misty morning views of rolling hills and towering trees sounds like a dream to you, book your next Denmark escape at Roo.
